MOST PEOPLE WAIT TILL THERE PUPPYS ARE ATLEAST 13-16 WEEKS OLD TILL THEY START EXERCISE.TGE BEST TIME TO STAR LEAD TRAINING IN THE GARDEN AT 6 WEEKS,THIS IS BETTER AS MOST PUPS DONT TAKE TO THE LEAD STRAIGHT AWAY AND YOU JUST END UP DRAGGING THEM.WHEN YOU LEAD TRAIN IN THE GARDEN THE PUPS ENJOY IT BETTER BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEY ARE AT HOME AND EVEN IF THEY START THE DRAGGING GAME, IT IS BETTER ON THE FEET AND LEGS BEING DRAGGED ON GRASS THAN ON CONCRETE.ONCE THEY HAVE HAD THERE JABS I START WITH TEN MINUTES FOR THE FIRST WEEK OR TWO AND MAKE SURE WE STOP AT PLENTY OF ROADS AND PRACTICE THE SIT COMMAND.AFTER THE FIRST 2 WEEKS I ADD 5 MINS EVERY WEEK AND TEND TO WALK 10 MINS ONE DAY AND 20 MINS THE NEXT, WITH A DAY OFF EVERY 3 DAYS.I NEVER LET MY YOUNG DOGS RUN OFF THE LEAD TILL THEY ARE ATLEAST 5-6 MONTHS AND THE LARGER DOGS 8-10 MONTHS.THE REASON FOR THIS IS I LIKE TO BUILD UP THE JOINTS AND MUSCLE FIRST, AND WE ALL KNOW PUPPYS GO CRAZY AND RUN AROUND LIKE FOOLS WHEN LET OF THE LEAD.THIS IS USUALY WHEN A PUP CAN PICK UP ITS FIRST INJURY AND IF ITS A JOINT OR MUSCLE INJURY IT CAN MESS UP THE DEVELOPEMENT OF THE DOG LATER ON.AFTER A GOOD WALK IT IS ALWAYS GOOD TO GIVE YOUR DOG A RUB DOWN FOR 5-10 MINS,THE SAME AS STRETCHING OUT AFTER A GOOD WORK OUT.ALSO I DONT MAKE A HABBIT OF GIVING MY DOGS WATER STRAIGHT AFTER EXERCISE,I USUALY WAIT TEN MINUTES OR SO.ITS GOOD FOR THE DOGS TO REHYDRATE THEMSELFS AFTER THERE EXERCISE AND LET THEIR HEART RATES RETURN TO NORMAL.I KNOW ALOT OF DOG OWNERS WOULD NOT AGREE WITH ME ON THIS,BUT I KNOW THIS ALSO HELPS WHEN TRYING TO GET YOUR DOGS FITTER AND MORE ATHLETIC.
MY EXERCISE WITH MY MINIBULLS WOULD USUALY START WITH THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK DOING A 6-8 MILE JOGG (USUALY RUNNING AT AN EVEN 7 M.P.H)THEN IF THE DOGS STILL UP FOR MORE EXERCISE I WOULD USUALY THROW A BALL OR STICKS FOR 15-25 MINUTES.THE SECOND DAY WOULD BE A HOUR AND A HALF WALK WITH 2 DOGS, USUALY WHEN I THROW STICKS THEY WILL CHASE EACH OTHER AND TRY TO WIN THE STICK, WHEN THEY GET THE STICK THEY WILL TUG OF WAR EACH OTHER TILL I TAKE THE STICK BACK FOR ANOTHER THROW.THIS BUILDS THE DOGS MUSCLES UP ON THE BACK LEGS AND BACK OF THE NECK.THE THIRD DAY WOULD BE A HALF AN HOUR WALK ON LEAD ( THIS IS BASICLY REST DAY).
THE FORTH DAY WOULD BE 8 MILE RUN AGAIN AND SO ON.
THESE EXERCISE TIPS ARE SO EASY TO KEEP UP WITH AND WILL KEEP YOUR BULLTERRIER TYPE DOGS IN VERY GOOD SHAPE.
